If NAC prevents the metabolites of acetaminophen from killing the liver and is the (sole?) remedy for acetaminophen overdose, and
accidental acetaminophen overdose is in fact the common problem it apparently is, due to its narrow therapeutic window and the fact that manufacturers shove acetaminophen into all sorts of pharmaceutical products, and
NAC, despite being an FDA approved drug, is also available over the counter as a nutritional supplement (?), then...
Why not just include NAC in all acetaminophen products? Wouldn't doing that just make acetaminophen overdose impossible? Is this actually, pharmacologically, a good idea? Should I be writing a letter to the FDA proposing this?
