Does anyone in the #PDX area have the appetite to pool some resources and make a move to self hosting? Some folks in Denmark have started https://data.coop/, and I’d like to follow that example.
Especially in these times, getting my data out of Google Drive, iCloud, etc. onto hardware *we* own and control feels enticing. But doing it alone isn’t economically viable.
If anyone knows of a PDX LOCAL hosting provider that will let me run containerized workloads, I’d love to hear about it.
No, AWS’ us-west-2 zone doesn’t count. I’m looking to do business with actual local humans #PDXTech
A friend who has lived in Portland much longer than I have pointed me at this site: https://calagator.org
Looks like an awesome resource if you are (Like I am) trying to find your community in #PDXTech. To which point, I’m going to try to attend some of these, and post about what I find out using the #PDXTech tag in case you want to follow along.
