Working at home with the rain coming down, listening to the remaster of my favourite (with the possible exception of 'Live Ethereal Cereal') of #OzricTentacles originally cassette-only releases, 'Sliding Gliding Worlds'.

Their first release with Merv Pepler (later of Eat Static) on drums and "Jumping" Jon Egan on various flutes and woodwinds, it's Jon's flourishes that give this album a touch of exoticism and lift it above what came before. Lovely stuff.

There are worse ways to spend a late afternoon than faffing about whilst listening to 'The Bits Between the Bits', the final release of Ozric Tentacles' earlier cassette-only era.

Although they were already working on their first "proper label" release when this came out, the album manages to defy its "bits left over from prev. cassettes" origins, and has some cracking tracks - I'm personally fond of 'Symetricum' and the ambient joys of 'Floating Seeds'. 😎 🎵

I'm especially keen to see Steve Hillage. I've been a fan of his since he was with Gong, but his solo work is just as good if not better. Alas, I doubt I'll get to hear him perform "Salmon Song", but you never know...

The Orb are great (they had a great song with "Fluffy little clouds"), and The Ozric Tentacles have been going so long, they have more albums than I can listen to at this point -- but I own bits-and-pieces.
