I am waiting, for another hour and a half, along the #waterfront. There's 8-10 kts of #wind and the very low chop is a constant choir as it hits the riprap, docks, and hulls. The sun is nearly hot, the breeze cool, the little flags all aflutter.

And, just to rub salt in the wound, a Catalina 30 is motoring toward the north harbour entrance.

I'm planning to buy a sailboat soon. Now, I have a Canadian ensign to fly on her.

I'm delighted that #Memphis has the [Flag Center](https://www.flagcenter.com/) so I can buy domestically manufactured flags locally 👍 ... with cash 😋

Back when I was doing my anchor practice, I was annoyed that I couldn't figure out how to load the anchor plugin in #OpenCPN , so I had to download a stand alone Android app.

Now I figured out my mistake. There is no separate Anchor alarm in OpenCPN. It's part of the WATCHDOG: Navigation Alarms plugin https://opencpn-manuals.github.io/main/watchdog/index.html#_anchor_alarm

Modern sailboat insurance requires a sailing resume. Mine includes 14 foot, gaff-rigged, lapstrake, catboats at camp Ahmek in Algonquin Park, Ontario Canada. I finally figured out that they were Aykroyd dinghies.

The best picture link I could find is https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2293405840978935/ and the best write-up https://canadianboating.ca/lifestyle/people-profiles/ontario-boat-builders-aykroyd-brothers/ and this fairly long presentation has even more information https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAJ-vUhfStU

@AmericanSailing I'm delighted to see American Sailing on the Fediverse and think it's a great organization. I'm a little frustrated that my first post on the topic is a complaint.

The ASA textbooks are only available in electronic form from proprietary locked-in platforms. I don't have an iPhone, or Android, or a kindle. I read #eBooks all the time. There are many (dwindling) sources for e-books that don't require any particular platform and I really wish ASA had used one.

At 00:34, I turned off the engine. I had a notion there was an inverter issue and was troubleshooting. The ignition switch fell promptly into the console. OF COURSE it did.
#notsailing and not motoring until I pull the side panel off and remount it. I really didn't have that on my bingo card.
First time doing an overnight on a boat... going great. LOL
Eating on a boat isn't much different than an RV. Except the gimbal stove.

Fun short trip, just the start of an overnight and a delivery tomorrow to a dock to pull this boat out of the water.
Bottom's up!
