Vibe learning ain't learning. Vibe learning is machine-aided shuffling of dead text. Vibe learning is empty.

Real learning is the construction of truth, aided only by the student's sense of the authenticity of their encounter with the subject. The resulting text may be flawed, but it is alive, it reflects the subject's wish to be known. Real learning is full.

Education Committee meeting today. The genAI madness is in full swing, at least in my neck of the higher-education woods.

Example: MSc dissertations. A three-months project of supervised applied research. Students now are encouraged to use LLM tools to develop and design their project. It used to be the role of the supervisor to help the student develop their project and learn how to do things themselves, in a series of personal meetings, human teacher and human student in creative dialogue, a precious culmination of a Master's degree. Under the new rules, as supervisor I won't even be allowed to insist that the student works with me, without AI.

Since you ask: yes, I did speak up against it. A few other colleagues did so too. Most were pro-AI, feeling hip.

The world we live in! A once noble profession giving up on its own core role, mindlessly. Self-mutilation of the university teacher as a profession.
