#Volla aims to have #UbuntuTouch available on their phone. And it’s already running on it!
The Volla Phone comes with the Volla OS which is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and offers stability for everyday use. Without Google Apps and Services, users get basic privacy protection while still being able to install Android Apps. At the same time, users benefit from the new Volla user experience with springboard, shortcuts and collections. To ensure long-term freedom through simplicity and privacy, we see the future in an independent, free operating system. That's why we want to invest in an alternative even we don't reach the stretch goal. We are enthusiastic about the lively discussion about our project in the user and developer communities of Nemo Mobile, Sailfish OS and UBports. Without ignoring other alternatives, we want to work on a port of Ubuntu Touch for our Volla Phone. The port won't be perfect, if we don't reach the stretch goal and some features of the device such as the fingerprint sensor will probably be missing. Ubuntu Touch has made great progress in recent months. Screenshots, photos and videos show how the dark mode of the standard apps fits perfectly to the Volla Phone. Their surface forms an elegant unit with the dark, glossy housing due to the almost rimless display.
