I got the chance to drive up to Guanella Pass last weekend. It will take another few weeks to completely clear of snow. If you decide to tackle a 14er this week, make sure you bring traction , layer your clothes for variable conditions, and know the route. #MtBierstadt #14ers

Mt Bierstadt is a common choice for a first winter fourteener. While the trailhead at Guanella Pass closes each fall until May, it only adds 1-2 miles to the overall distance.

The route is usually free of significant avalanche danger, except for one spot you can easily skirt along the road closure.
