@JustinDerrick Any web based software that I use that get exposed to the world goes behind a web application firewall.

In today's episode of tech buzzword bingo, we learn that "thinking bigger" with AI actually means hitting a 404 error page 🤖💥. Apparently, the future of AI is so grandiose, even the server decided to take a day off 🖥️🚫. Who knew #mod_security was the true gatekeeper of innovation? 🙄🔒

With AI You Need to Think Much Bigger! |

If anybody has tips/experience to offer on using #mod_security to squelch broken AI #scraping, would be appreciated.

First pass has helped but now it's harder. Example: looks as though bingbot is being repurposed for AI scraping and I'd rather not risk collateral damage to actual search.

It's not the scraping we object to, it's the inefficient methods (hallucinated URIs being shot into @SkepticalScience at crazy rates).

Regular expression for AI-imagined URI. That's where this is going.😋

@mook @MastodonEngineering EXACTLY THIS is why I think a "#Webhoster-only" functional #ActivityPub server is kinda important.

And for what Mastodon does, it feels quite overengineered and overcomplex, but then again I'm used to #MkDocs and other, "#offline-#CMS|es" that do just work and are kinda essential for stuff on @torproject / #Tor because noone there uses #JavaScript and enabling #JS is discouraged by #TorBrowser for all the right reasons...

I should take a closer look at #streams once I have time for that...

I wish #cPanel & #WHM made it easy to whitelist a single #mod_security rule for a domain. Instead you have to disable mod_security for the entire domain…😒 I guess that's better than disabling it for all domains under an account...but still…
