1/n Just before the diff increased by 21.53% about 2h ago, the mempool cleared 2+ sat/vB once more. After a depth low of 23 blocks in the 1-2 sat/vB band, we're starting off into the business day, back into a net-growth pattern for mempool depth.

Yesterday, the mempool had a depth of 208 blocks when the difficulty dropped by 12.61% at block #681,408. We saw 124 blocks in the 16h since, and the mempool has receded by 45 blocks to a depth of 163. All txs with effective feerates above 7 sat/vB have confirmed.

Block production is still reduced by ~25%. The mempool now has the greatest depth since December 15th, and the top feerate is more than double that of the February peak.
Yet, fees per block are still below 2017's record in $, and no where close of a record in ₿.

“This weekend, the network cleared txs with 6+ sat/vbyte and reduced the 5-6 sat/vbyte band from 22 blocks to 3 blocks depth [1]. Looking at the whole feerate event [2], the top feerate bands have been diminishing for about a month. Current mempool depth: 110 blocks #mempoolreport”

Sometimes it feels like 10 sat/vB is the new 1 sat/vB: the band from which occasionally a few txs go through.
