ATMcashpoint@TheSpaceshipper I've come to suspect Jefferies' design for the Phase 2 Enterprise may have had a recessed glowing deflector dish similar to the movie design, but with a solid central section in the middle of the blue glow to suggest the pupil of a human eye.
After all, we know from his sketches that he styled the revised warp nacelle struts after an arm holding a javelin!
