@zensaiyuki I'm reading up on organizational theory at the moment, one element of which is figuring out how the hell you manage (and measure, monitor, reward, incentivise) productivity, especially in complex and nontangible work.

This gets directly too (and one of my sources references) Robert K. Merton's work on manifest vs. covert functions, but also more generally, of the idea of #manfestation or #tangibilty -- the ability to directly perceive and understand a thing.
