IceCube ist bereit, weitere Geheimnisse des Universums zu entdecken

Das in der Antarktis gelegene IceCube Neutrino Observatory ist einer der größten Teilchen-Detektoren der Welt. Mit über 5000 optischen Sensoren, die über ein Volumen von 1 km³ im antarktischen Eis verteilt sind, ist es in der Lage, die am schwersten messbaren Elementarteilchen, Neutrinos, zu erkennen. Nun wurde der Detektor, an dem auch Forschende der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal arbeiten, zum ersten Mal seit 15 Jahren erweitert.
