Why it matters:
Small-town budget talks and school board meetings decide whether kids get safe buildings, clean water and funded programs — while big-name politicians shout about nothing. Democracy is mostly this tedious; skipping it hands power to the absurd and the irresponsible.
Oh my god I went to a Neighborhood Improvement Association meeting like the good citizen I am and it was like Parks and Rec
Our city is starting a deer sharpshooting program so we don't get chronic wasting disease and invasives in the park and it turned into an hour of talking about studies on the feasibility of deer birth control (no), whether crossbows are allowed in the park (no), and are our neighbors currently field dressing and eating the deer (no)

Important stuff, Ōtautahians! Remember, #localgov is incredibly important (not dull at ALL), as it's all about our day-to-day lives, and how we live them :)
