I don't have 5 minutes to explain gay history to you

At #pride today, I had a "clack fan" with a specific #prideflag on it.

This kid (16-19yo) came up to me. They had the look and tone of voice that strongly suggested they had an encyclopedic knowledge of specific pride flags. But they asked, "what pride flag is that?" I said "leather pride". They asked what #LeatherPride was.

Baton Rouge pride is an indoor event (for our comfort, because air conditioning, but also for our safety, because hatred). It was crowded, loud, and I didn't have 5 minutes to tell a story that is not mine and starts in 1947 (from what I recall) with returning gay war veterans.

So I punted and told them it was #BDSM.

I know it's so much more than that—service and honor and history and structure/rank and so much else. But like I said, it was loud, crowded, and this was a kid more intetested in a pride flag they didn't know, than someone looking for an introduction into leather history.

But in a different context, I would have given them that introduction.

Dyo identifies as ASEXUAL but indulges and engages very heavily in kink spaces, particularly BDSM and being a Daddy dom. While this can be sexual in nature, there's a very stark separation between engaging in sexual activity and being attracted to people. Dyo isn't attracted to anyone.

He is also in the AROMANTIC spectrum, possibly Demiromantic but not super sure. Canonically he has held romantic feelings for folks in the past a few times, but they were under very specific circumstances. He does currently have romantic feelings for Milly.
