@dekoningtan I don't know if I'd call it charm, but after a few years of #vcvrack on a laptop and nothing else I first got an #akai #mpk mini and then a #keysteppro. The former allowed me to change a more than one thing at once, the latter has made sequencing much more interesting. So the #synths are still digital for all the reasons you mention, but IMO the hands on of knobs, pads and faders really seem like a natural step to further creativity, and if I'm honest satisfies my inner child.
