コロラド州のデンバー美術館で4月から9月初めまで行われている「歴史は勝者によって描かれる」というテーマのケント・モンクマン（Kent Monkman）の展覧会が面白そうだ。自身が先住民クリー・トライブ（Cree）のメンバーでもあるモンクマン氏の作品には、先住民が、植民地時代の征服者に受けた不正義を題材にしたものが多い。また、非西洋文明のジェンダー観が描かれたものもある。
展示の説明には、「気象変動、環境保全、政府/政策による少数民族迫害、世代間のキズ、クィアコミュニティの可視化やプライドなど、現代社会が直面する重要な課題を追求している」とある。まさに今、見るべき企画だろう。
