First #K118 style book bound! I'm gonna call it a partial success.

It's a success in that it its a solid book that looks and feels great, opened well and should last for a while.

It doesn't quite to the K118 fan-open-freely thing, I suspect because of the materials used. I used paperbacked bookcloth and a rather thick one at that, to line the spine and cover the book. This made the spine stiffer than it should be and make the book throw up less. (#bookbinding terms, gotta love them... XD)

So next time, it will be leather or filled cloth only. And you can bet there will be a next time because I'm very into this structure!

Merry #Binderary to all who celebrate.

Last February I bound ... 20+ books in one month. I aimed for one book every workday, and it was ... challenging. I learned a lot, I had lots of fun, but I'm not doing that again.

This Binderary, I have the following plans:

- Get the WIPs down to zero. (From ~3-5 half-finished textblock I have lying around.)

- Do something with the leather I bought in Leiden (Not my first leather binding, but only my second.)

- Try my hand at #k118-style binding. (Look it up, it's cool.)

- Only start a book if I can learn something new from it. (New structure, etc.)

- Connect more with local bookbinders, amateur and professional.

We'll see how that all works out.
