I watched a new anime: Ōedo Fire Slayer
This is a nice change from all the Isekai and could be rather interesting if it didn’t look so mediocre. 3D models itself are not bad (Trigun Stargaze has them too) but then they shouldn’t have weird proportions that make them look off.
I’m still interested in the story after the first episode and would like to give it one more episode at least.
And the opening theme by Porno Graffiti is already on my playlist 😁

I watched a new anime: The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-be Wife
It’s a cute romance and that is already kind of enough for me. I also think that Yakō being blind is a nice feature because it’s handled rather matter-of-factory and not like a major disability. I appreciate that she also has hobbies like her audiobooks.
We haven’t seen her and Tōnome having many common interests so far, so I hope this will show up in the next episodes to show their relationship is on a good basis. Then I think I’ll stick to it.

I watched a new anime: Champignon Witch

I’m not finding my way into this. It has the looks of a sweet fairytale and is narrated like one, but what’s happening is actually the main character having a very lonely sad life. The whole first episode I yearned for any sign that things will change. Usually I’d expect this kind of story to start with how she finds the one person who can fully accept her 🥲Maybe I’m just too impatient.

I also felt that the contrast of how she is seen (cause of all evil) and who she really is (nice to a fault, not even thinking anything bad about the people who shun her) is too stark. I would have preferred to see any relatable reaction from her, not this numb acceptance.

I watched a new anime: Jack of all Trades, Party of none.
I didn’t even want to watch this but my husband did. And we both agreed there’s no need to watch more.
There’s nothing exactly wrong with the story or the characters. It just wasn’t particularly interesting either. The topic of “main character was thrown out of his adventurer party” is massively overused. This fantasy / wish fulfillment of “they said I was trash but actually I’m awesome” is just not up my lane.

We can already see that he is a good fighter and even that female adventurer who’s supposedly better than him holds him in high regards. So I can already see him showing everyone how great he actually is and I don’t need to see that.

I watched a new anime: Isekai Office Worker (etc.)
A combination of Isekai and BL is new, and those were 2 things I knew about this before I watched the first episode.
The premise kind of reminded me of “My Bookcafe in another world” (which has a heterosexual romance, but a really cute one), except Kondo is not a chosen one at all. And I guess not ending up Isekai’d due to overwork he just ends up doing it again 😅
I didn’t tell my husband about the BL part and he was surprised when Opening Theme played at the end of the first episode and made it quite obvious.
I just hope that the relationship with the handsome knight will end up teaching Kondo to not overwork himself.

I watched a new anime: You and I are Polar Opposites.
Knowing the manga I already had high hopes for this, but it was really executed well.
It is a story about high schoolers that actually feel like real high-schoolers. Several scenes in the premiere made me think back to my own experiences, moments of being cringe or being super awkward about talking to someone.
It’s super cute and I cannot wait to see it all animated.

New anime: Wash it all away
This has the setup of a cozy daily life anime. The laid-back everyday life of cleaning is rather relaxing, but I can’t quite see it to sustain long unless they expand the trivia about different steps of washing.
The main character blushing a lot, especially when talking about cleaning or seeing something that needs to be cleaned is a bit strange.
I’m not fully sure what I should make of this.

New anime: Journal With Witch
I love this based on the first episode. It’s dealing with feelings or rather with not really knowing how to feel, and on the side it also captures some really mundane moments.
The feeling it evokes is similar to #Frieren except it’s not fantasy, just regular life.
I can’t say much more, it’s all about the atmosphere and character interactions feeling real.

New anime: #SentencedToBeAHero
We were surprised by the overlength of the first episode. The most defining feature is that it is incredibly well animated - it was a joy to watch.
I also found the setup compelling - how we’re kind of thrown into things and have to piece everything together as the episode goes on.
I also like Xylo as a protagonist - highly capable, exploited because of it (?), a misanthropist - but he still cares about people (although he wouldn’t say that).
Teoritta has the potential to be annoying but it was fine so far.

My main worry is that it seems more likely that it will get worse rather than better from here, and that it’ll be an open-ended story because it’s based on an unfinished light novel series.
