Hrmn. I want a complete scanned collection of Infocom feelies & manuals & things. I have the adventure DAT files but that's often not adequate.

The games & source & ZIL manuals and such are at

…
Found mostly the manuals at
https://archive.org/details/InfocomZ-SystemManuals/

and

The docs folder in each of
https://archive.org/search?query=infocom+jewel+case
has some of the hint books & feelies scanned.

Put on GET LAMP again just to have something in mood to hear while working, and laughed out loud.

I love mazes. I get why some don't, but they're wrong, those people have had the fun sucked out of them or were hurt by bad mazes too often. A good maze is the *best* puzzle.

I'm considering starting up my #Cat #IntFic again. Or perhaps running something of a different genre. What would you be interested in?
For those who don't know how it works, imagine a #CYOA (choose your own adventure) novel. But instead of you alone deciding where the story goes, a collection of people gets to determine what page to turn the book to, in the form of a Mastodon poll. Polls would run for a day or two, and at the end of one I put up the next.
The Infocom documentary is even more depressing than the IF Comp; that's a self-inflicted doing-nothing hobby, Infocom's death spiral was a bunch of corporate (theirs and Activision's) decisions that just flushed a working company.

But it does have me thinking about being smarter at some kind of mostly-text game again. I have a setting document I've been writing, and it has no game attached yet. I definitely wouldn't make a blessed, orthodox, conservative engine & system for it. Done that, move on.

I'll keep thinking about that. Next part of the doc is about puzzles, which should be more fun than "our genre is dead and Steve Goddamned Meretzky Himself says don't waste money on it".

The "modern" (decade+ ago) IF Comp stuff in this really bums me out. Hundreds or thousands of efforts to make trivial games*. A few apathetic attempts to make a buck on IF. Desperately conservative clinging to the old form and often the tech.

Tho I didn't hear anyone mention Z-Machine, or even Inform; TADS guy barely mentions his own runtime, which I did a bunch of small stupid gags with 30 years ago.

* and yes, guilty, my own IF is mostly trivial, or tech demos without games.

The Haunting of Tweeting Manor

This story was created through a series of polls on Twitter over the course of two years, the many choices taken in this tale, as voted on by twitter poll will lead you from trying to manage a simple haunting to the eldritch planes and a confrontation with a terror from beyond the stars.

Remember when there was a blue bird in the corner of twitter and I ran a daily #intfic?

I have compiled the last one into an ebook.

I can't do a free promo on amazon as I want to go wide with it but it's cheap as I could get it.
