How much insulse are you?

"Insulse" is a fine old word for ‘lacking wit or sense’ or ‘stupid’. The Irish philosopher George #Berkeley, born in 1685, uses it in The Minute #Philosopher (1732), an attack on atheist #free-thinkers. ‘In our times a dull man is said to be insipid or insulse,’ he writes. "Insulse" means ‘without #wit’. There being no lack of cause to complain of the #dullness of others, we may increase today the general merriment by revivifying the word #insulse.
