@cortig I did. They didn’t seem in favor of faster insulin because Tandem hasn’t officially been tested with it & would probs affect the #CIQ algorithm. They suggested a different pump, something I need to follow up on.

#BetaBionics makes some pretty extraordinary claims about their #iLet bionic pancreas; sounds like #MachineLearning or at least some more intuitive data analysis behind the scenes, but I’ve been a #Tandem user for 17 (18?) years so I’ll need some convincing.

I read a pretty thorough review, by a trusted member of the diabetes discord I help moderate (she’s also a moderator), of the Betabionics iLet. I think I agree with her concerns over the “carb aware” and other vague setting aspects of it.

It’s attempting to remove as much focus on management as possible, and I get that. But it’s putting a ton of trust in it getting things right.

It also has some limitations that I’m not a fan of, though this review was late last year and software updates may have removed some of those limitations.

I think I want to still request more info and maybe a demo or something. But I’m not sure how that’s going to work using their online forms as none of the medical professionals I’ve worked with are available to select as a prescriber.

I think I could get used to the “carb aware” aspect, but I’d like to see if the limitations are addressed before jumping on it.
