I really wanted to know whether I can drink St John's Wort (SJW) tea again, which pre-hormone therapy consistently helped me with depression symptoms and writer's block.
Research says: SJW decreases serum-levels of estrogens (and perhaps it also decreases the effectiveness of antiandrogens), so care has to be taken. The E2 dose might have to be adjusted.
Experiment: I drank two cups of SJW tea (over two days).
Short term result: Helped with writer's block.
However, today I experienced light gender dysphoria, moderate brain fog, light depression symptoms, and moderate exhaustedness. I could only eat my comfort foods (musli, and marinaded & microwave-cooked tofu).
Countermeasure: Increased dose of estradiol, which quickly relieved the brain fog. 🧠🌫️ I'm starting to feel better again. 😌
Conclusion of the experiment: In the future, to be safe, I will completely abstain from SJW products.
