Our beloved #nippes early 1900s and today. You see the corner of Neusser Str and Florastr, today also a subway stop. This place is still the home to 'Em Golde Kappes' on the left, a traditional Cologne pub that opened in 1913 and was named after the cabbage fields that used to be here before. The stationary store is still at it's place on the right, opposite of Kappes. The fish store is gone today and made space to a small square where Einheitsstr and Mauenheimer Str meet Neusser Str.

Historische Gaststätte in Köln Nippes

Die Kneipe „Em Golde Kappes“ wurde am 30. August 1913 vom Nippeser Wirt Matthias Becker eröffnet. 2009 hat die Cölner Hofbräu P. Josef Früh KG die Gaststätte übernommen.

Hansahochhaus (1925 and now) was Cologne's first #skyscraper and tallest building in Europe at the time. The railway bridge is now the 'Hansaring' stop for suburban trains. The tram you see in the 1925 picture now runs under ground and serves the 'Hansaring' subway stop right underneath the bridge. #köln #koeln #dasistköln #cologne #thisiscologne #hansaring #saturn #hansahochhaus #kölnerringe #neustadtnord #thenandnow #colognethenandnow #beforeandafter #damalsundheute #kölndamalsundheute #historic #historiccologne #history #kölnamrhein #früher #damals
St. Agnes is very easy to recognize due to its unique bell tower. It was built by Peter Joseph Roeckerath between 1865 and 1902 for his wife Agnes. The area surrounding it is now known as Agnesveedel (Agnes quarter).
