Gli obiettivi della normativa EUDR
La normativa EUDR ha come obiettivo di prevenire la vendita di prodotti legati alla deforestazione nel mercato dell’UE. La gomma è uno dei sette prodotti presi di mira dalla normativa che entrerà in vigore alla fine di quest’anno. La gomma naturale viene raccolta incidendo la corteccia dell’albero della gomma (Hevea brasiliensis) e raccogliendo il lattice bianco. Alla base della filiera della gomma naturale ci sono 6 milioni di piccoli agricoltori, principalmente nel Sud-est asiatico e, sempre di più, nell’Africa occidentale, che producono circa l’85% della gomma naturale mondiale.
Questi agricoltori gestiscono piccole aree di terreno, spesso suddivise in più appezzamenti, e operano in modo indipendente, vendendo a diversi intermediari. Il lattice da loro raccolto può passare attraverso innumerevoli agenti intermedi prima di essere lavorato o esportato, rendendo la tracciabilità all’interno delle filiere estremamente complicata.

Objectives of the EUDR Regulation

The EUDR aims to prevent the sale of products linked to deforestation in the EU market. Rubber is one of the seven products targeted by the regulation that will come into effect at the end of this year. Natural rubber is collected by tapping the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) and collecting the white latex. At the base of the natural rubber supply chain are 6 million small farmers, primarily in Southeast Asia and increasingly in West Africa, who produce approximately 85% of the world’s natural rubber.

These farmers manage small areas of land, often divided into multiple plots, and operate independently, selling to various intermediaries. The latex they harvest can pass through countless intermediary agents before being processed or exported, making traceability within the supply chains extremely complicated.
