After a long day, I'm trying out repent, the new album from gnashing teeth.

I'm not very good on sub-genre labels, but I can see where the black and death metal tags come in. (More research is needed into the various flavours of grind / grindcore.)

But the Bandcamp reviewer who calls it "a sonic assault in every way possible" is not wrong.

Is that so?
Look at what happened leading up to Stephen being martyred in Acts 7:54: his accusers (members of the Sanhedrin) became furious and gnashed their teeth at him. Weeping and gnashing of teeth was an expression not of tormented pain and anguish, but of rage.
