This is the modern Cineworld building in central Glasgow. It's main claim to fame is that it stands on the plot once occupied the legendary Glasgow Apollo. Originally opened as Green's Playhouse in 1927, it was re-branded as a music venue in 1973 and opened with two concerts by Johnny Cash.

In the early 80's I was part of a queue of approx 3000 hairy youths that's stretched down Renfield St waiting to see Iron Maiden or Whitesnake (can't remember which) at the Apollo when Billy Connoly wandered out of the pub next door to the Pavillion only to be greeted by our massed
"Haw, Big Yin!"
To his credit he continued down the road until he could escape into Sauchiehall St.
That's my only "when I met Billy" story...
