Oh boy, exciting times! I finally have a #geminiprotocol capsule up! I'm officially part of the #geminispace.

Not much there yet. I don't really want my primary website/blog to get out of sync with this so I'm going to need to do some clever syncing of my markdown blog files. Maybe I'll just update my current site to parse gemtext instead.

Currently hosting this as a subdomain because my primary site is a cloudflare workers site and I can't redirect ports. I think it may be time to drop that and just host that locally too, so I can run both off the same domain.

why the fuck are all the #Molly Brown #geminispace #docker container images things you have to build locally rather than being hosted at a container registry? I don't want to have to have container artifacts on my local machine, I want to simply boot a container from a registry specified in my docker compose file

I am still interested in trying to make tables in geminispace that are accessible to blind users.

The trouble is that gemini's native markup format, gemtext, does not have tables.

Gemtext does have preformatted text blocks, so I tried making tables by manually lining up text.

but I was told that that sort of table is hard for people using screen readers to parse. So now I'm trying something else.

I made two copies of each table: one is preformatted text that I manually lined up, aimed at sighted-users. The other copy is a csv file. I link to the csv file right under the preformatted text.

Note that if you click on the csv link from Firefox or Chromium, they try to download the csv file instead of displaying it in browser, while Gnome Web/Epiphany (and so maybe Safari?) will display it in-browser.

So my question to users of screen readers is, does this work? Can you actually read the table?

How does it compare with the MediaWiki version of the same information?
