Brinks security subscription trap - SeattleLunarSociety
This is exactly what happened to my parents this week. Brinks claim my elderly
stroke-victim father verbally agreed to a total of three overlapping contracts
that extend their subscription out four years and the only way to cancel is to
pay all four years of the subscription. I was surprised but not surprised to
find other customers complaining about the same thing. They have no contract or
terms they will provide that we supposedly agreed to, so I can’t review this
cancellation clause. They are taking “subscriptions that are difficult to
cancel” to a whole new level. 😡

This means that any legacy, promotional, or grandfathered pricing will no longer
apply to renewals processed on or after that date. Instead, all VIP memberships
will renew at the new standard rate going forward. > > People are not happy on

Plex is locking remote streaming behind a subscription in April - Lemmy.World
cross-posted from: https://programming.dev/post/27204525
[https://programming.dev/post/27204525] > > We are also changing how remote
playback works for streaming personal media (that is, playback when not on the
same local network as the server). The reality is that we need more resources to
continue putting forth the best personal media experience, and as a result, we
will no longer offer remote playback as a free feature. This—alongside the new
Plex Pass pricing—will help provide those resources. This change will apply to
the future release of our new Plex experience for mobile and other platforms.
