Listening to the Freak Zone on the 6 Music and the organiser of the festival is saying they'll probably have to find a new city to host them as Birmingham City Council has gone bankrupt.
This has had a knock on effect on the availability of local music venues and also property developers have taken away many of the spaces they have used.
Iβve been a regular attender of the Supersonic Festival for about 15 years and much has changed in that time. When I first rocked up to see Swans, Stinky Wizzleteat, PCM and other sonic treats, the event was a bit of a white boysβ club, both in terms of the artists and the audience, despite being put together and curated by a couple of women.
The Cocteau Twins and Harold Budd did a collab album?! Thanks for bringing that to my attention Freakmaster Maconie!
