Q: "Why do you do all this? Isn't it a lot of work and money?"

A: "In the summer of 2022, we caught “Cookie” as a 8-week-old kitten. She was starving and had a bad eye infection.
When we took her to the veterinarian the next day she commented that,
“It’s a good thing you caught her yesterday because this kitten wasn’t going to make it to tomorrow”.

Those words kicked this whole thing off. Six months later, we saw what had to be Cookie’s litter mate (...)

These two sassy cats showed us that all of the kittens on campus need to find homes. So, the next time we spotted kittens, we decided to trap them and rehome them, and we never stopped."

Freshly wrapped and napped Dumplings for today's Dumpling Report!

😽 Shelley-kitten: 1006g (+1) but she *would not* sit still..

😸 Ada-kitten: 1015g (+12)

I keep them in the bathroom, but back in the living room dog crate in the afternoons.

All they want to do is nap, and the other cats can get used to them.

Poppy is completely enamoured, and will sit and watch them all day. The others? not so much.

- Don't like that!
- Hiss!
- Ignore!
- Refuse to go anywhere near..

Now Ada's eyes might be turning orange? (They looked blue-green yesterday)

They're neatly snipped off, just stubble. TWO hairs remain..

I think her sister may have nibbled them off?

Late 2-day Dumpling Report (v tired):

Shelly-kitten: 990g (+35, +15 yesterday)

Ada-kitten: 997g ! (+49, -2 yesterday)

I was worried over her losing a bit of weight yesterday, bc I'm trying to get her off milk. Again.

The hefty gain today means I can cut to one bottle, then none, and see how she does.

Their EYES are changing colour! Shelley's are turning orange. Ada's green.

I've moved them to the bathroom, the only place I can shut other cats out and not full of hidey-holes.

What a difference the milk makes!

She also sprouted glossy black long hairs on her coat.. I think she's going to be a solid black cat.

Late Dumpling Report:

Shelley-kitten: 851g (yesterday's was prob wrong)

Ada-kitten: 842g (+12g)

Both are very perky and affectionate.

Shelley JUMPS and CLIMBS. She loves scrambling around my shoulders, hanging down like a bat to sniff my face or plop back down to my lap again.

Ada loves to snuggle on my arm, and groom my fingers.

Today's Dumpling report:

Shelley-kitten: 879g (+53)

Ada-kitten: 830g (+63)

Not sure if they *really*could have gained that much weight in a day, or scale error again.

(I've tried weighing kittens in various bowls, which they rock / jump around in, so none really work 😹 )

Yesterday they were too sleepy to do that. So I trust those measurements.

They have both grown frizzy paler grey hair on their upper arms, belly and chin. Shelley has little black belly spots.

Dumpling Reports a feisty Ada today!!

She weighs a whopping 767g this morning 🏆

- Her meals were supervised, and without sister bothering her (she eats slowly).

- Plus 3 half bottles of milk, which she drained completely.

- Shelley weighed in at 826 (+17g)

Both *were still for once* so the scale settled.

I doubt Ada gained 71g in one day, but today's weight is prob the accurate one.

Dumpling report!

Shelley-kitten is 782g (+29)

Ada-kitten is 747g (+45)

BIG growth spurt (she lost weight yesterday) and little grey fur puff shoulder pads appeared.

She is eating a lot, and doesn't want bottles anymore. Thank dog. I SLEPT for the first time in ages 😭

They're both changing colour (again) so looks like they might stay Black Smoke w grey and black fur.
