GEORGE SPENCER HAYNES, 80

WTSA NEWS learned on Tuesday morning February 27th 2024 that the community in Brattleboro had suffered a great loss. George Spencer Haynes, a remarkable individual, peacefully passed away at 12:45am on Tuesday after a brief period of illness. George Haynes, the former [long-time] President of Brattleboro Savings and Loan and co-founder of the highly successful “project feed the thousands” [the largest] food drive in Southern VT, had just completed its 30th campaign. George was a prominent figure in Brattleboro, leaving a lasting impact, his absence will be deeply felt in the community. Our hearts go out to his wife and family. George was 80 years old.

GEORGE S. HAYNES, 80

George S. Haynes, a very well known and important person in the Brattleboro area for decades, has died, following a short illness. He was the long-time head of Brattleboro Savings and Loan and he was a co-founder, with Larry Smith, of Project Feed the Thousands.

The death of George Haynes was announced in the WTSA Radio News. Searches online have not turned up another source so far: - not even in the WTSA News posted online.
