❗If Julian Alvarez stays at Atlético Madrid, the club could legally bench him for the whole season without breaching his contract, since current labor rules only guarantee a player's right to train, not to play.

The LaLiga-AFE agreement, now under review, says players can only be excluded from training for valid reasons like injury or illness, and only if notified in writing. Spain's Royal Decree 1006, which governs professional athletes' contracts, similarly guarantees the right to effective training and preparation activities, except in cases of injury or disciplinary sanction.
