giant planets - friends or foes? Jonti 'planet killer' Horner interview [podcast 45m03s] #exoplanets #exocast #JontiHorner #PlanetaryDynamics https://www.exocast.org/exocast-80b/
Interesting to see China's ET (Earth 2.0) #exoplanet hunting space telescope get green-lit. I talked about ET in an #exocast news episode a while ago (https://www.exocast.org/exocast-61c/), but to summarise: the numbers for their expected planet yield (written by a masters student) seem mostly fudged and, though I'm not an optical engineer, their telescope design appears unfeasible. So I'm extremely skeptical that this will fly this decade, if at all. And from what I've heard so are the rest of the community

Something us exoplanet astronomers have done over on the bird app is the yearly #ExoCup competition, where the people who run the #ExoCast podcast organize a bracket and polls for us to pick the best #exoplanet

And the contenders for #ExoCup2022 have been announced! Generally these are drawn from the exoplanets that have been the most discussed in scientific papers that year, plus a few wild cards based on the favorites of the organizers.
