I wonder, is anyone even working on environmental air quality monitoring for small organic molecules? Not just total VOCs (which would be a start), but specifically a measure of the compounds that can pass through your sinuses and stab you in the brain like you were walking through all the perfume counters at the entrance to a 1990s department store?

(This may not be a precise description of the mechanism involved, but that's what it feels like.)

Because right now, the only sensor I have for that is my nose & brain. There's nothing showing up on any of the air quality monitors that would warm me not to go outside or open windows today. Which means there's nothing I can rely on to tell me when it's all clear again, either.
