In 2017 for our 90% solar eclipse, I got better pics with my DSLR. This percentage seemed high, but of course it's still fairly normal looking outside. Though maybe it seemed cloudy without there being a cloud in the sky? Or that was my imagination.

I got to see a partial eclipse today. About 80%. Damn.. I wish I had traveled somewhere to enjoy full totality. It was 100% clear today too!
The first eclipse I got to experience was in 2017. Unfortunately for us in Charleston, we got rained out by a rogue gullywasher!
This is what I was able to capture in 2017 with my Nikon 3400 and a 300mm lens.
I plan on going to Iceland in 2026 fully prepared for the next one!

The Amtrak trains leaving Salem today (8/21/17) were completely full, but the trip was well worth it. A total eclipse is an experience not to be missed, but it's more than an astronomical phenomenon--it affects us humans in ways that bring us together. The folks we talked in Salem, over dinner on train 14, and even waiting for the bus back here in Seattle, all were smiling, and happy to have been part of an unusual shared experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21LGv8Cf0us
