Vancouver mayor stands by city's budget

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim defended the city's budget on CBC's The Early Edition. He says the $2.4 billion budget heavily prioritizes public safety, …

CBC News

Listening to my Mayor being interviewed on CBC’s local morning drive show #EarlyEd is an exercise in frustration. Fairly clearly, not just for me, but also for host Stephen Quinn. When asked a simple question where a response of ‘yes/no’ would be best, we get a monologue of explanation of his position with so little clarity of the ‘y/n,’ that I honestly couldn’t tell which it was.

Why can’t people in public office talk properly‽ I know much of it is the fault of coaching them with ‘media communication,’ where it’s taught that your message must be hammered home with buzz words and Phun Phrases, but when that gets in the way of actually answering the question clearly, they need to get back to simple conversational techniques, such as listening before responding.

But, I’m probably crazy.
