whelp, lastnight I now know that the re-flashed Radeon 9700 for PowerMac G4 I brought from ebay ~10 years ago is actually Radeon 9500...

I tried to change the card ROM to 128KB chip and flash modded Radeon 9700 firmware on it and it didn't boot.
Checking the old 64KB ROM chip content matched the modded Radeon 9500 128KB ROM... and the ROM data got truncated also. Possibly why it hang n Mac OS 9 if any ATI extensions is loaded. And checking the GPU chip number also matched the Radeon 9500...

no wonder why it have all identification label peeled off.

The USPS says that I’ve been scammed; eBay says for me to take it up with the seller, who hasn’t responded to any of my messages. I joined eBay in 1999 and have successfully sold thousands of dollars of goods, but I think I’ll be done for good if eBay doesn’t give me a refund on this bogus sale. #ebay #ebayscam (2 of 2)

The newest #ebayscam appears to be this. You buy an item and the seller ships it, but you never receive it. The tracking information says that it was delivered, but the USPS confirms that 1) the item was not shipped to my address and 2) the 1-1/2 lb item was somehow miraculously shipped in a 2 ounce package. eBay claims they’re not responsible, since the package was “delivered.” (1)
