The Timms Review into PIP being conducted for the DWP is calling for evidence, they apparently "committed to engaging with disabled people, the organisations that represent them, carers, clinicians, experts, MPs and other stakeholders" so hopefully if enough people shout they have to listen.

@etchedpixels @ChrisMayLA6 There have been attempts to "involve" #disabled people in policy-making in the UK. I was a member of a group of #autistic people who were consulted by civil servants from the #DWP at the National Autistic Society in London over changes to the #benefit system. We might as well have been talking to a brick wall!

UK disabled folk, carers, and other interested parties, there is to be a review of the Personal Independence Payment system, and there is an open call for evidence. The details are on this page:

There is a link towards the bottom of the page to a form for submitting evidence, and an email address for submitting evidence in other formats.

Call for evidence closes 28th May 2026.

The JobCentrePlus (Department of Work & Pensions) asked me for a non-existent bank statement.

I sent them the following message.

--- message sent 2026-03-24 0905 ---
As I am required to obtain a Bank Statement for November 2025; Would it be possible for DWP-JCP to produce a letter (in hardcopy and digital (pdf or other) formats) with two predicates expressing that :-

DWP-JCP has requested that I obtain a Bank Statement for November 2025,

and whether, when asking for the four bank statements, the DWP-JCP did or did not know that NatWest does not produce Bank Statements for months when there is "no activity" in a bank account.

Thank You.

Now, they want to talk to me for half an hour ... over the phone!

#DWP

just almost missed the 3rd time the #DWP called me to check if i am not 'scrounging' taxpayers money.

as it's one of few times i can tell the government what i think about their treatment of me, & everybody else in my position, i told them exactly #TheStateWeAreIn

it's weird. i feel angry but also relieved to be able to let out what i keep inside. the public servant i spoke to was brilliant, he listened patiently & reassured me he wouldn't harass me again..
