@PaulCzege I’ve yet to do #dropm78 in full
I'm torn about #dropm78. I don't really have time for it this year, but the most fun I had on Mastodon last year was when @LisaKalayji and @Athenalindia and I were all doing it.

Ace of Pentacles/Queen of Pentacles

I actually did all of the #dropm78 #Tarot challenge, although I took a little longer than scheduled, and posted about far less than half of them. I ended up really liking the way I approached it, pairing a random card with the next card in the deck and found it very helpful for fully familiarizing myself with the imagery. I also liked going through the minors first, using them to build a foundation that culminated in the majors, instead of relegating the minors to an afterthought.

So, I’m going to keep using this method for getting to know decks, and I’ll post about them when I have the energy and not worry about it when I don’t. I’m moving on to the Darlings Tarot by Caitlin Peck, a deck I’ve had for a while, sent to me as a gift by my childhood best friend - who obviously still knows me well. It was Kickstarted, and I don’t believe it has had a mass market release.

What jumps out at me from this juxtaposition of cards is flaunting vs hiding abundance. The hand in the Ace of Pentacles is absolutely laden with rings, holding up a disk for examination. The hedge behind is a perfect frame - if this is a beginning, it’s one that starts in abundance and displays it.

In contrast, the Queen of Pentacles has as much, but keeps it occluded. Her face is covered by a bunny mask, and her tear-covered gown covers the rich harvest of pears around her. She’s moved past the need to show off what she has, and knows how to keep some of her harvest for herself. There’s a healthy sense keeping some things for herself, and stepping away from comparison.

If I fail to finish the #dropm78 this year it'll be because I'm getting pretty consumed with thoughts/analysis of Pamela's minor arcana.

(I'm not thinking this means anything, but I didn't know it wouldn't until I did it.)

Still plugging away at the #dropm78. I'm only twelve days behind. Here's November 4th, the Seven of Wands:

And I'll post the Eight of Wands too in a few minutes.

...but I'm also getting quite a better sense of the numerological progression of Pamela Colman Smith's cards like no one else has written about them that I know.

So, I’ve been writing about the cards for #dropm78 in my journal, but I’m behind in that a few days, and further behind in typing them up and posting them. I’ll try to catch up. You wouldn’t read five of them if I posted them today though, I don’t think. But for right now...here's the Four of Wands, which has a vibe that I love:

teen. November 1st. Four of Wands. Definition: Sasha Graham says fours represent “stability”. But she says eights are “equilibrium,” so what’s the distinction? Waite says country life, repose, concord, harmony, prosperity, peace. Detail: What is the Elsewhere Tarot presenting? #dropm78 Seven of Wands

Now this is a disconcerting juxtaposition! In one, we have the least pleasant way to clean a toilet, one that feels like an urban legend, and on the other card, we have the pleasant anticipation before opening a present, when you don’t know what it is and the possibilities are endless.

Let’s hope it’s the set of glasses depicted, and not something to help in her housecleaning. Gifts shod be wanted, and there’s no reason to make any process an unpleasant as the Seven of Wands suggests.
