Gonna be following #Novembeat, but after #Looptober I need a break from making a whole, complete chunk of music every day. Seems like a good challenge for anyone who might've wanted to do #Looptober but missed out this year, though! (Or anyone for whom a single month of making a new piece of music every day was simply not enough!)

Edit: I've just been informed that #Noisevember is also a thing.

Edit 2: And #Dronecember.

day 31 of #dronecember - this final entry is admittedly self-indulgent at over an hour (exactly 5 hours total of dronecembers according to Soundcloud's math which i do not 100% trust). it's my attempt to do the cerebral/denser/darker drone combined with the lighter/airy/sublime entries. idk that it does any of this well but i didn't hate it on playback.

As i've used the first thing that comes to mind for all these drones, i did the same with the final #dronecember even though it was a bit corny. So, i hummed Auld Lang Syne through some effects with my #buchla 200e system as accompaniment.

The full playlist of all 31 drones are up on SoundCloud. Almost 5 hours of slow music.

Happy New Year!

dronecember 2022

I jumped on this Dronecember project together with others over at Mastodon. The challenge was to make a drone piece each day in December. I used different modular systems to make these pieces.

This last #dronecember is a trio of Cello, Organ and sine waves. It has a well tempered fifth as its only interval, if we don't count octaves. The dynamics take care of most of the sense of progression. The music is very reduced. This is about half an hour's worth of music, but like most of the stuff I do, I think it would benefit from running it for as long as you feel like. Let me know if you'd like my help getting #SuperCollider sat up. I do that a lot, so it's fine.

Okay, so...

I'm about to sit down and do my last little .scd file for #dronecember . I did #noisevember right before, so that switch was wild. I used to do a lot more noisier stuff back in the day. It was great sort of having an excuse to do that kind of aesthetic but It got hard to stay within that at about 2/3rds of that month. It was a real sense of relief getting to do Drone after that. Now it's almost time to wrap things up for this month and I've loved it. I learned a lot from it.
