Hopperbagger sind Schiffe, die Sediment am Boden aufsaugen, in einen Laderaum aufnehmen, an eine ausgewiesene Klapp- oder Ablagerungsstelle transportieren und dort verspülen oder verklappen. In der Regel wird das Baggergut in Übertiefen des Nord-Ostsee-Kanals oder auf Spülfelder verbracht.

WATCH; No Buildings Without This Dredger! Dredger Charlemagne carries her load to Ipswich, Monday 31 July.
Most of us aren't very aware of where things come from - but a vast amount of aggregates - that's stuff like sand, gravel and shingle, used in the construction industry - come from the bottom of the sea.
Charlemagne can dredge at a depth of up to 6o metres, and can carry over 10,000 tons of aggregate - that's an impressive ship.
