So I bought this gorgeous all metal Staedtler 2mm drafting pencil a couple months ago, and all of the sudden my rotary lead pointer was nowhere to be found. After a couple of months, after finding it in the rear passenger door card of my girlfriend's car (no idea lmao), I'm very disappointed to report that the two are not what I would describe as compatible.
I mean, it'll point the lead, but you have to pull it out at least an inch before it'll do it. I always used this thing with a red Koh-I-Noor, and it does work with a "NicPro" off Amazon (one of many Chinese "syllable brands", although honestly, pretty good considering I got 144 2mm leads and 2 lead holders for less than the price of either Staedtler product).
I'm going to assume it probably works just fine with the less expensive plastic Staedtler clutch lead holders, but I'm just wondering what they had in mind for me here? Sand paper? An exacto blade? Someone else's sharpener? Or do they make a newer lead pointer I don't know about?
I still really like the pencil, and I did order one of those little maroon Uni brand lead pointers that looks like a baby pencil sharpener, which works just fine, I was just kinda surprised I guess?
Unrelated thing if you have your eye on a Staedtler 925: I don't recommend dropping it.
