When recording a video, there might be moments when you might want to record the audio separate. For example, if the person speaking in the video is too far away from the camera, the audio will be too low.
Problably the two most popular portable audio recorders around $100 is the Zoom H1n and the Tascam DR-05X.
Which portable audio recorder do you recommend?
Probably of no interest to anyone but me, but I've finally got round to doing a crude check of the recording level setting on my #Tascam DR-07X #audio recorder. This can be set from 0 to 90 in steps of 1, and I've established that the recorded level changes by 0.5 dB per step.
Specifically, recording the same sound at settings {90, 80, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30} gave levels {-17, -21, -26, -31, -36, -41, -46} dB, as shown on the recorder display during playback.
