I går udkom Mikas’ nye bog Bamberg Blues.

This was so good. It reminded me why my favourite genre is 'quiet contemporary novels under 200 pages written by Nordic Lady Novelists and starring imperfect middle-aged Lady Protagonists living imperfect ordinary lives'.

I wanted to #NameTheTranslator of the Danish edition of Malma Station here, but the library gave no translation information. So I checked a few of the other usual sources, but they all tell me that Malma Station was written in Danish. So I checked to see if I was mistaken, but no, Alex Schulman is still Swedish. Nobody mentioned him writing in two languages, but apparently he does.

Climate activist authors led the way at the LiteratureXChange Literary Climate March. It started with fine readings by Carsten Jensen & Silja Henderson. Their literary climate collective 'Forfattere Ser Grønt' works closely with Extinction Rebellion. They were inspired by the UK climate group Writers Rebel. But wanted a softer name that was more culturally Danish. So they chose ‘Writers Seeing Green.’ In the sense: writers seeing red about the climate crisis.

A literary climate march as the official opening event of a literary festival. ‘It’s so bad even the introverts are here.’

Climate action and sustainability are the themes of the Aarhus lit fest LiteratureXChange. If you think it's just words, it isn't. Well it is, but not in the greenwashing way. Other events include ‘Catastrophe therapy & climate anxiety’, a ‘Can literature save the climate?’ conference, and 'the climate in literature' author talks.

I judged this book by its cover. Saw it at a library sale and thought: this cover is so bad that the stories must be good. That was childish of me, but accidentally wise. It turns out they are very good. Have only read a few so far, but am already wondering why I haven't heard of Peter Hovmand before.

Slow social media, in the good way. ‘What we’re reading’, but on a chalkboard on the street.

These are the books that the staff at Kristian F. Møller, our local independent bookshop, are reading. No hashtags, just hand-drawn flowers. Amazon could never, would never.

“If something is written in your native language and it’s taking you half a year to get through it - unless you’re being paid to read it, I’d say there’s a problem.”

A friend is persevering unhappily through Pontoppidan. I’m reminded of this David Sedaris comment that made me laugh.
