DIRTY DRONE DISTORTION - a doom drone stompbox (3rd batch)

This one is for heavy doom drone sounds, no matter if you run your stringed instruments (electric guitar/bass/etc) or a synth through it, the Dirty Drone Distortion will add 10 tons of weight to it. It is housed in a sturdy aluminum enclosure, hand-painted with ‘industry burnout’ camo patterns in black and silver. The circuit is a modded vintage SUNN MODEL T preamp based distortion with HIGH and LOW control and a build in duo-oscillator DIRTY DRONE section. MIX control blends the DRONES with the pedal’s input, before the distortion kicks in. But the machine can also be used as a stand alone drone synth, if you fancy. Each oscillator has a FREQUENCY control for and a WAVEFORM toggle-switch for TRIANGLE and SQUARE wave selection. The upper toggle has 3 positions, the middle position disables that oscillator, if a single non-overlaping waveform is desired. The third toggle engages the EXTREME DISTORTION mode when flipped to the right. (NOTE! this is not explained or shown in the 1st demo video, since i have changed this function after recording it.) The NORMAL DISTORTION (toggle left) results in the wonderfully saturated distortion this circuit is famous for. The right stomp-switch with indicator LED is the DRONE KILL switch, it engages or shuts down the oscillators completely for hands-free operation. The left stomp switch is the TRUE BYPASS with it’s own indicator LED (the LEDs are violet/UV and lime green, order my vary). VOLUME attenuates the global output level (BEWARE: the pedal is VERY loud!). Powered by 9V DC via a ‘boss-style’ 2.1mm DC socket (negative pin inside). Power supply not included. GRM performed as COLDSORE with an array of their self build METSÄÄN MACHINES, namely the Musique Concrète Platform (bowed, plugged, stroked and scratched), Dirty Drone synth, ANAPHYLAXIS filter + some EHX pedals. Beware: This is the most 'dark ambient' recording of COLDSORE this far.

Before the instrumental set, GRM made a short rather abstract vocal intro about noise, traffic, communication, transparency, responsibility, disruption of deeply engraved patterns of social behavior and complicity.

And asked the audience to talk more about normalisation + disruption!

DIRTY DRONE DELUGE - a shadow modulated 4step sequencer with delay/distortion

This machine is named Dirty Drone Deluge, because the sequenzer is flooding the delay for a flood of sounds. It’s enclosure is a recycled drawer (25.5x16.5x9.5cm) of a wooden cabinet, painted in the ‘burnt out industry’ camo patterns in black and chrome. The panel is made of coarsely sanded plastique aluminum laminate with some stamped in function indicator letters.This METSÄÄN machine contains two sections: an extra noisy ECHOBLENDER delay/distortion (more on that in the ECHOBLENDER postings) and an 4-step sequencer. Each step has a FREQUENCY control, a RANGE toggle-switch (low/high) and a LDR (Light Dependent Resistor), that allows frequency control by throwing shade or shining light onto it (shadow=higher/light=lower). A SPEED control sets the sequencers tempo and another toggle-switch kills the sequencers signal to the ECHOBLENDER section. Furthermore there is an INPUT socket (6.3mm mono TS plug) for injecting external signals to the ECHOBLENDER, either passively mixing with the SEQUENZER section’s signal, when that is not switched off. The OUTPUT socket is also for 6.3mm mono TS plugs. Powered by standard 9V DC effect pedal power supplies (boss-style, negative pin inside). PSU is not included. Handmade by grm for METSÄÄN.

A third toggle switch adds a very subtle different distortion flavor. A DRONE KILL stomp-switch with UV indicator LED engages or shuts down the oscillators for hands-free operation. Testing the new #METSÄÄN MACHINE the first #DirtyDroneDeluge with a light controlled 4 step sequencer running through an #Echoblender delay/distortion section. In this clip the output signal also runs through heavy reverb, the unnatural habitat of it's sound. Each step has individual frequency control and a toggle switch that selects two different ways of how the LDR (light dependent reaistor) affects the pitch of the step. A SPEED control makes it go fast or slow. The sequencer runs on an algorythm, that adds very slight variations to the flow.
