Nice chair by GamFratesi for Poltrona Frau

Dezeen Showroom: design duo GamFratesi created the compact Nice chair for Italian brand Poltrona Frau, which is designed for maximum comfort.

Nice is a small table armchair that Poltrona Frau describes as having "a strong presence in the lunchroom".

The Nice chair is available with leather or fabric upholstery

It is formed from two curved elements, the shell and backrest, which slot into one another and overlap, leaving a small void at the rear that gives the chair a distinctive character.

The elements come together to create a chair that both looks inviting and offers comfort and support to the body.

The Nice chair is available with leather or fabric upholstery in a range of colours, and there is also the option of saddle leather for the backrest, which has tailored stitching and creates a strong silhouette.

The chair sits on slender metal legs as its base, giving it a visual lightness and modern sensibility.

Seating collection 822 by Claesson Koivisto Rune for TON

Dezeen Showroom: Claesson Koivisto Rune aimed to put a contemporary Nordic spin on a classic cafe chair with the 822 collection of seating, for Czech furniture brand TON.

The 822 collection references the A811 chair, a bent beechwood and woven cane chair designed by Austrian architect Josef Hoffmann in 1930 for Thonet, and since adapted by TON into the 811 seating chair.

The 822 collection is an evolution of a classic bentwood chair

Swedish architecture and design studio Claesson Koivisto Rune keeps the iconic and sturdy bentwood, made through a classic manual bending technique, and reimagines the woven seat and backrest with perforated plywood using new techniques.

"The original designs of the A811 and 811 are great examples of the early modernist movement," said Claesson Koivisto Rune co-founder Mårten Claesson. "But they clearly show the heritage of 19th-century romanticism. We decided to remove this feeling."

The collection includes stools as well as chairs

As well as giving the 822 collection – which contains a chair, armchair, lounge armchair, barstool and low stool – a distinctive character, the large perforations create connection to the interior space and allow sunlight to pass through.

Made to last generations, the 822 seating collection is crafted from wood certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), and is available with a natural beechwood finish or coloured with stain or pigment.

98.6°F outdoor collection by Neri&Hu for De La Espada

Dezeen Showroom: Portuguese brand De La Espada has released a collection of outdoor furniture, 98.6°F, designed by Neri&Hu to be long-lasting and deceptively simple.

The all-wood 98.6°F collection is named after the "normal" human body temperature.

The collection features a dining table, dining chair, bench, lounge chair, coffee table and side table that De La Espada, which normally focuses on indoor furniture, describes as modest and versatile while also revealing "tectonic sophistication" up close.

The 98.6°F outdoor collection features wooden chairs and tables

All of the pieces are made from Croatian white oak, chosen because its high tannin content protects the wood from rot and allows it to have a longer life outdoors.

The furniture is finished with black oil, which darkens the grain and deepens the tone of the timber while making it water repellant.

The pieces are carefully engineered and made from high-quality Croatian white oak

Over time, the pieces in the 98.6°F collection will naturally age outdoors and take on a silver or dark grey patina.

Miau Armchair by GamFratesi for Koyori

**Dezeen Showroom: **Danish-Italian design studio GamFratesi has designed a curved wooden armchair, which is a reinterpretation of traditional Danish design for Japanese furniture brand Koyori.

The Miau Armchair is a solid wood chair with four tapering legs, a curved armrest and a backrest.

Miau Armchair was designed by GamFratesi for Koyori

The chair's main features include armrests that are made from a single piece of bentwood to create an elegant look and durable form.

"With the Miau Armchair, we wanted to create a humanly warm and gentle design with a feline motif. Hence the series of minute details, particularly the armrest that invites you to be caressed and discover the beauty of this material," said GamFratesi.

The armrests were constructed using a single piece of bentwood

The seat of the chair and backrest are angled and slightly curved in order to hug the user's body and provide maximum comfort.

Miau Armchair is available in a number of different finishes, including a natural oak finish and a natural walnut. Both finishes can be paired with a wooden or upholstered seat.

Dina chair by Adam Nathaniel Furman for Beit Collective

Dezeen Showroom: designer Adam Nathaniel Furman has put a colourful twist on a traditional Lebanese style of furniture to create the Dina chair for the brand Beit Collective.

Beit Collective produces contemporary design inspired by the Middle East, and the Dina chair is part of its Beiruti collection, which is produced in Lebanon.

The Dina chair is based on a traditional style of seating from Lebanon

Furman based the chair's design on the "Khayzaran" chair, a wooden chair with a woven rattan seat, similar to Thonet's Vienna coffee house chair.

Instead of the traditional cane, Furman's woven seat and backrest are made from a durable castor oil-based bioplastic.

The woven seat and backrest are made from bioplastic

The wooden frame is designed to emphasise the pattern of the weave and also to echo the look of a traditional upholstered chair.

Suitable for both indoors and outdoors, the Dina chair is made to order and can be customised with a choice of 12 bright colours for the threads. There are three standard wood options – maple, beech or oak – as well as others on request.

Mono chair collection by Note Design Studio for Fogia

Dezeen Showroom: Fogia has released its latest collection by Note Design Studio – a family of classic Mono chairs with solid wood, minimalist metal, or swivel bases.

The Mono collection features slender, gently curved seats and backrests made of moulded plywood, with three different base variations and optional upholstery.

The Mono family of chairs comes in three different base variations, including metal and wood legs

The thin metal legs make the chair lightweight, stackable and good for hospitality settings, while solid oak legs create a feeling of warmth and comfort.

"It's a design that draws glances from people that appreciate a classic, straightforward piece of design," said Note Design Studio designer Charlotte Ackemar.

The swivel base adapts the classic-looking chair for desk use

"But with its wide range of different styles and variations, Mono is a great compact canvas for stylistic expression," Ackemar continued.

Other options for customising Mono include armrests, various wood lacquer finishes, and upholstery in a range of Elmo leathers and Gabriel and Kvadrat fabrics.

Jazz dining chair by David and Julian Loehr for Loehr

Dezeen Showroom: Berlin-based brand Loehr has released Jazz, a playful take on the dining chair with a jaunty silhouette and bright colour palette.

Designed by David and Julian Loehr, two of the brand's three founding brothers, the Jazz dining chair has a protruding front leg that breaks with the expected order of right angles.

The Jazz dining chair by Loehr has a playful silhouette with protruding front legs

The chair comes in two versions, one with and one without an armrest.

While the standard model has two angled front legs, the other features an extended backrest to connect the armrests and one leg pointing forward at a greater angle.

The chair is available with or without armrests

"The model with armrest takes the striking accent to the extreme, even in a figurative sense," said the brand. "With the frame rotated by 45 degrees, one of the four chair legs points straight forward."

The Jazz chair is made from solid European beech or oak with a moulded plywood backrest for comfort and elbow room.

It is available in a range of natural and bright lacquer finishes

The design is available with an optional cushion seat and can be finished in a clear varnish or 12 bright lacquers, with colours including orange, mint green and lavender.

The wood is sourced responsibly from European forests and handcrafted in partnership with a cabinetmaker in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
