It's been another week of Steam Deck updates. Firstly I fitted a screen protector, an anti glare one from Jsaux. The installation frame is genius and it went in perfectly first time. In my opinion this is a must have, unless you prefer to see your reflection instead of your game. Secondly I finally got Duke Nukem 3D working. As an FYI the GOG installer is a shell script when downloaded on Linux. Neat.

Using the Steam Deck and switching between desktop mode and game mode is giving me serious Windows 95 flashbacks.

Well, that didn't last long. The Steam Deck is now running Steam OS, as nature intended. Installing Windows 11 was easy, the latest build even had working WiFi drivers so it was online out of the box. However hardware support isn't good enough for me, yet. I'm sure developers are doing the best they can but Windows is not a handheld console OS right now. I am going to choose limited game support over limited hardware support this time.

Another day, another upgrade. It's too bad the new drive didn't arrive yesterday. Out comes the 256 and in goes the 1T. And a little something else.

Seeing as the Steam Deck is an actual gaming PC, I can upgrade it. Time to get rid of the default Delta fan, which sounds like a jet at take-off, and replace it replace it with a nice new quiet one.

It has been almost a week since my Steam Deck arrived. At first I was unsure about a few of the Deck's aspects, the size of the "controller", with it having a honking big screen in the middle of it and the OS itself. However, over time I've grown to like it, in a kind of buddy movie way. There was a period where I thought I was going to get mad with all the little foibles, but we get along great now.
