Last Friday I visited Horst und Ruth Roma Völz in #Berlin. There I was able to borrow a heap of papers from Ruth Völz: "Textgrafiken" she did with the help of her husband from mid of the 80s until the early 2000s – a kind of "#typewriter #art" made with a computer-controlled #daisywheel #printer. The artworks are mostly about computer topics and riddled with allusions about the politics and culture of the #GDR. The graphics will be exhibited in an @ocm special exhibition.

I have a TextWriter that I love. It has a centronics port and accepts and prints raw ASCII. I used to have it booked up to a Windows pc via a usb converter and it printed just fine using the windows raw text driver.
Now I’ve moved over to Apple and it will not work, raw text drivers still send loads of format codes which it tries to print.
Any suggestions please?

Honestly, a daisy wheel printer would work fine for a lot of my work. And they are a lot easier to maintain than laser printers or ink jets.

1980's Xerox 6010 electronic daisywheel typewriter, with Xerox branded cover and printed manual.

I made a small donation to the local RSPCA animal charity for this.

It's far more yellowed than the photo shows, seems a common issue with phone photos of old tech.

Besides restoring and running #atari BBS’s, I have been restoring or fixing atari hardware about the same 35 years of #bbsing.. Here is the latest, a well priced XDM 121 that needed a lot of care, cleaning, new wire harness, ribbon cables, #daisywheel, ribbon of course, more cleaning and repairing a ceased axis… This evening, we have a finely restored noisy #atariprinter for your enjoyment and mine… #southernamis
