A deal between Jeffries & McCarthy to ensure the extreme rules changes do not get enacted & guarantee memberships on desirable committees might be worth the required number of Dems to vote Present. Especially from the states that might help their vote in 2024.
That and it is an act of bi-partisanship. Something they can brag about for the next 2 years.
It also beheads the GOP snakes on the GOP extreme right.
