I finally unentangled (is that the word?) my linen yarn so I can carry on knitting. Double stranded because this is too thin otherwise.
I don't know what I did but both balls got stuck under loops that are caught up further inside the yarn cakes. It shouldn't have been possible but that's what happened. Absolutely clueless how, it felt like woo woo magic.
Anyway, normal knitting can be resumed. This was lying around a couple of years. Too long.
